Feed the City

Feed the City is an community effort held at a local restaurant on the second Saturday of each month in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area. It is organized by TangoTab and allows people to come together to make thousands of sandwiches for a local food charity, which are distributed by the SoupMobile. It is also a great opportunity for students that need community service hours, families that want quality time together, and groups looking for a team-building activity.
==History==
Feed the City was founded in January 2015 in Dallas, Texas. Volunteers check in with their TangoTab app, or they can sign up for free when they arrive. Each volunteer brings ingredients for the sandwiches, chips, cookies, and sandwich bags. The items are distributed amongst all the tables and the sandwich-making begins. Volunteers are able to meet new people, work as a team, and make a difference in their community. TangoTab founder, Andre Angel, says that Feed the City “was founded on the idea of giving families, friends, and individuals another way to join the fight against hunger.”
The first Feed the City took place in Dallas in January 2015. Over 200 people participated, and over 4,000 meals of sandwiches, chips, and cookies were made.
In March 2015, Travis Frederick from the Dallas Cowboys and Kellie Rasberry from the The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show participated in Feed the City. Over 5,600 meals were made this month.
Feed the City expanded to Denton, Texas in February 2015. Public House and Dani Rae’s hosted Feed the City, with over 2800 meals being made.
In August 2015, Feed the City outgrew the space available at Nodding Donkey, and Gordon Biersch became the new host in September. Over 300 people participated, and 8,140 meals were made.
